some fightin’ n’ hackin’ and a bit of urine soakin’…

          howdy, sports fans! well, it was a good sporting weekend for us, with three filipino pugs kicking the living crap out of their respective opponents last sunday on pay-per-view tv. yup, it really did unite the country again, albeit briefly. still, it was all-in-all a good day for filipino sports. we are reassured that manny is just reaching his peak, with two young fighters ready to take over when his run is over. there was an upbeat buzz when i got out that afternoon for my sunday basketball game, and i even engaged in an animated recounting of the highlights of the fight with the other people on the court, a lot of whom i can not carry a comfortable conversation with (shy kasi ako sa personal..). it’s this kind of stuff that makes reading the morning paper bearable. but still, when i got to the part where GMA congratulates the three boys for their achievement, i cringed (why is she referred to as ms. arroyo in the other article?) and almost gagged. it’s because i have this feeling that they’re just being used, and not being genuinely celebrated by the president, and recah proved me right a few days later. oh, well.. says here that the rematch between manny and erik morales will push through, though for me it lost a little bit of its appeal with morales coming off a loss. still, he’s going to be a very formidable opponent and a difficult test for pacquiao. i still feel that if that cut over his eye didn’t open up during their first fight, iba sana ang istorya..

          one thing that could’ve put an icing on it for me was if andre agassi won over federer. would’ve been a nice comeback / underdog story, and you guys know how much i love storylines like that. couldn’t wait for the showing of that US hockey team movie "Miracle" on star movies so i downloaded it, and sated my underdog-lovin’ fix. was rooting for agassi all the way, he just couldn’t pull it off. too bad that third set went into a tiebreak. after losing that it all went south for him. that’s ok, he had a good run, nothing to really get down about. what he did was still inspiring.

          came across this story about internet theft, and it really got to me because i almost fell for this kind of scam. as an active ebay member, i got this email asking me to "update" my membership and account information, or my account will be deleted. i was in the middle of filling out their form when it hit me–they never announced anything of this sort in their site (MyEbay page is set as my homepage..) so i got suspicious and dropped the whole thing. i’m telling you, it’s an official looking email, even the sender and link seems legit, and i just followed my instincts to not respond. when i read this article it only confirmed my suspicions. that was a close call right there. hope these guys all get caught and have the skins on their buttocks flayed. ouch.

          hey, felicity and morpheus are in the next mission impossible movie. getting kinda nauseated about this tom cruise / katie holmes show, though.. beginning to wonder if anybody else cares anymore..

          ouch. i feel mig didn’t do well last night on Rockstar:INXS.. i was kinda excited with the songs he’s been asked to perform, but his take on "Paint It Black" and "Kiss From a Rose" was a bit too much–theatre– for me… it’s too late in the ballgame for him to be sticking to his theatre-training, me and my brother felt like we were hearing the two songs being performed in a musical.. hope the votes get him through this week..

          what’s the deal with tiger meat? apparently, it’s quite a big deal. so much so that the fake stuff got these people in a heap of trouble. damn. sounds tasty, but wouldn’t dream of eating that, or getting near a plate of it. or touch it with a ten-foot-pole. crrrr-razy boyz..

          speaking of crazy, this game is just that.. they say you can hold on to that button for days, look at the counter.. i don’t know about this..how about some fishin‘?
