Sleepless Dreams

September 5th, 2005 by epoyz

once upon a time i read somewhere that you can tell a great deal about a person on how he reads the morning paper. it’s like if one looks at the headlines first, he tends to have a negative view of life because he pores through it and goes "what’s wrong with the world right now?". and the person who looks at the sports and funny pages first tends to be more positive, because he starts his day with lightheartedness and tales about the triumph of the human spirit.

what bugs me is that i used to go straight to the funnies and sports pages before. but that was until very recently. has age got something to do with this? crap.

woke up late again, tired and grumpy, because i couldn’t sleep until 4 am. and get this: i dreamed that i was tossing and turning because i can’t sleep! how fucked up is that?

is it just me or there seems to be a lot of planes falling out of the sky lately? here’s another one, falling on a residential area, no less. well, there goes the neighborhood.. damn. seems like the hits just keep on coming. never one to believe end-of-the-world signs and shit like that, but i’ll sure be relieved if folks get a break from the relentless pounding.

never one of those people who like pouring gasoline on the fire, but.. an estimated 10,000 death toll? this can’t be right, no? folks are getting really emotional, with black leaders accusing the administration of being slow in acting on this disaster because most of the displaced were black and poor. even kanye (for the record, i don’t like his attitude) went out of script during the katrina benefit concert and started blasting the administration and the media. on live television. but here’s where it really got into me: the scenes down there turned out to be so horrible that two police officers killed themselves, one was shot dead and quite a few deserted the rescue efforts. you can read about it here, along with other tales of horror. but it is in the face of this kind of adversity that the best in the human spirit is brought out, right?

here’s hoping that they don’t get too scarred after prevailing over this, though.

aaaaand, here at home: cock the hammer, it’s time for action! cock da hamma!! the debates went on ’til the wee hours of the morning, but still, after all was said (and interrupted) and done, the beatdown was administered. hah. as i’m typing this rallyists are pouring out into the streets. if you ask me (not usually a good idea, but..), GMA and her crew could have handled this better, you know? instead of being cocky and shit that the impeachment plea will be rejected in their favor, and they seem to be in too much of a hurry to squash the moves of the opposition, oftentimes appearing that they’re doing it by all means necessary..well, there’s a quick recipe for a revolt if you’re looking for one. GMA’s working too hard to present the flipside, that we don’t need this right now, that we should focus on other pressing matters that will prove more beneficial to the national interest.. well, it could have worked, too. she’s pitching her fight against poverty ( although it sounds like she’s fighting FOR poverty..hehee…) and rebuilding the nation and shit. hell, if she could have gone to the "we’re gonna break it down and build it right up" speech she could have pulled it off, too.. but directly and (it seems) unceremoniously drubbing a process that the people feel strongly for, that’s just asking for more trouble. she should understand that time can be an ally, she can ask the marcoses. people tend to forget over time, yo. if you look guilty, don’t go imposing your shit. wait till it simmers down a little bit.

gee, i hope she doesn’t resort to hurting the rallyists, though. that’s the kind of shit we really don’t need right now.

is it possible to find her guilty over a long-drawn-out impeachment process, but we don’t let her resign right away for lack of a better alternative? just let her work until further notice? i mean, as a people we win because we didn’t let that shit slide, we nailed her, right? that’s what we want. but at the same time we don’t further compromise our economic situation with a power shift and all that crap, we get to decide on our own time. would anybody facilitate something like that? i don’t think so. and i know it’s not possible, either, i’m just throwing it out there. i know it may sound stupid, but hey, i’m still waiting for a solid plan from anybody to get us out of this. i know them leaders duped us once again, but i’m open to letting them stay under close watch. sure, they’re not credible anymore should we find them guilty, but are they looking a whole lot more credible as they are right now?

but if the first gentleman shows off that he bought the new bugatti i’m assasinating him myself.. am i reading the tag price right? that’s just cold, yo. i don’t mind if the Philippines as a nation is struggling right now, long as i see that the leaders are trying the best they can and even better if i see them being active in energy conservation laws and sensible spending. it’s best if we actually see them tightening their own belts themselves, and not hearing about how they went to the pacquiao fight after sleeping in a $20,000 suite in las vegas or feeding their horses more expensive chow than what most citizens have on their table or living extravagantly and shit. fuck that. we ride together, we die together. and hey, i think the economic reforms the recent administration are working on were directly derived from the US design: it’s set-up to help you improve your way of life whether you’re a billionaire, or just a millionaire.

enough of this chitchat. let’s look up.

"..There’s a progress we have found
A way to talk around the problem
Building towered foresight
Isn’t anything at all..

Buy the sky and sell the sky
And lift your arms up to the sky
And ask the sky and ask the sky

Don’t Fall on me
(What is it up in the air for)
Fall on me
(If it’s there for long)
Fall on me
(It’s over it’s over me)

Don’t fall on me.."
